A helping hand against pollen allergy

Allergy to grass pollen is one of the commonest and most neglected widespread diseases in Europe. Many people in the health service think that so-called symptomatic treatment, i.e. anthistamines and steroids, constitutes sufficient help. The patients do not agree. Nearly 70% of them do not think they are getting sufficient help, and furthermore consider that their quality of life is being restricted.

Relevans is responsible for European marketing of Grazax, the first 'vaccine' against grass-pollen allergy. A tablet containing allergens from grass is taken daily for three years, by which time the body's immunological defence will be strong enough to cope with the pollen attacks on its own.
